When you can tell

An ultrasound, to find out the sex of your baby, can be done when you’re between 18 and 22 weeks pregnant. Before this the baby may not be developed yet to get an accurate answer and after this time it may be more difficult to get a good view because the uterus is more crowded.

Amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling are genetic tests that can be used in the first trimester or early second trimester to find out the sex of your baby. They are more invasive and 100% accurate but they can pose health risks to your baby.
