Placement
The bed should not be against a window or be directly in line with the door. Put the baby on a solid wall with the head of the crib against it. Avoid placing the baby against a wall that is shared with a bathroom, toilet, storage, or utility-type room. Ideally, the crib or Moses Basket should be protected on two sides by walls. Shelves, cupboards and other storage structures above the baby’s crib or toddler’s bed is never a good idea. This may send off poison arrows towards your child, plus it is a safety hazard.
Bedding
Use solid or simple print sheets and bedding in soft colors of yellow, green or salmon. Avoid garish cartoon characters and action figures. They can cause your child to be moving around in bed all night. Use only 100% cotton bedding. When the child is old enough for a pillow, use only natural fiber pillows. NO polyester! Wash bedding in Dreft or detergents with no added fragrances. Do not use smelly fabric softeners or dryer sheets, as these are very irritating to the child’s skin. Change the sheets at least twice a week to keep chi fresh.
